Her last three years were difficult for me as I watched her valiantly try to carry on but slowly lose the battle to dementia. As I struggled to help her, I told my daughter how I wanted her to treat me at that stage of life, and she suggested that I write a letter to myself so that she can give it to me then - and that, perhaps, I will be more likely to accept her help and support.
